Starting August 14, we will be combining our 8:30 and 11:00 worship services to worship all together at 10:45 am in the Sanctuary. This change will push back the Sunday School hour to 9:30 am, with community fellowship time beforehand when the church doors open at 8:00 am.
Rather than downsizing, we are capitalizing on our unity in diversity, assembling the church family together for such a time as this. A sanctuary with a seating capacity of 700, including the balcony, certainly allows for this to happen. At the right time, we’ll let growth dictate the addition of more than one service in the future.
We join together at this one time, as one church, one family in the spirit of Acts 2. It is said in Holy Scripture that “when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place…all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages…now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem (gathered there).”
How beautiful it is to be in a church as gifted and diverse as Westbury UMC! In the Spirit of Pentecost, we look forward with eagerness to joining together in one place among the diverse voices we value here.
