You’re invited to The Great Sing and Ring Music Extravaganza, featuring the Children’s Choir, Master Ringers Handbell Choir and Sarah Winkel on organ and piano. This family-friendly concert will be on Sunday, May 5, at 4 pm in the sanctuary of Westbury UMC.
Enjoy some fun music from different genres including classical, jazz, pop, sacred and world. The Children’s Choir will sing selections of the music they’ve been learning throughout the year, including “Rejoice in the Lord” by Jane Lindher and the Chinese hymn “Pengyou Ting.” The Master Ringers will ring songs that will exhibit both the versatility of the bells and the rhythmic skill of the players.
The keyboard portion of the program will feature selections for the organ that demonstrate the different sounds and versatility of the instrument. This is done by using a combination of stops and dynamics that are unique only to the organ. The organ has three keyboards used by the hands, as well as a full pedal board for the feet.
The audience will be able to hear contrasts in style as well as sound. Also, there will be familiar favorites performed on the piano, for both two and four hands.
An ice cream social will follow immediately in Humphrey Hall, the church’s gymnasium. Admission is free.
