It’s a fact: very few Americans know their neighbors’ names. As we consider Christ’s call to “love your neighbor,” how do we move from stranger to acquaintance to relationship? What would our neighborhoods look like if each of us intentionally built relationships with our nearest neighbors?
Throughout worship in September, Westbury UMC will explore these questions and more in “The Art of Neighboring” series. We will challenge ourselves to grow in knowing and loving our neighbors. Here are just a few things to expect:
- NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS
We’ve mapped all the addresses on record and households have been assigned neighborhood zones, according to geographical location. Each zone has a captain who will contact you with an invitation to an upcoming fellowship event in your area. If you’re unsure which zone you belong to, check out the map near the Café!
- WEEKLY CHALLENGE CHECKLIST
In worship each week, you’ll be handed a Weekly Challenge Checklist with ideas to connect with your neighbors. These tips will be geared for all kinds of folks: children, youth and adults, apartment dwellers and homeowners, etc. Remember, there’s no underlying motive to persuade your neighbors to come to Westbury UMC. The main goal is simply to build relationships and show God’s love.
