This past week while walking through our building, I realized that we really are an intergenerational church. You see a span of ages in our pews when we worship together, but you can also see the generations in the church building itself — when you move from the original sanctuary which is now our chapel, through Humphrey Hall gym, and down our newly renovated hallways. God began a good work here in 1955, and every generation has physically left their legacy. And the past year has shown that God’s not done with us yet!

So I’m excited to see what will happen in 2019. Our stewardship theme this past month has been “Raising Disciples,” and that theme will carry us into the new year. The Scriptures we’ve studied in worship have challenged me to reflect on how our church needs to improve our pathways for every person to grow in grace, that we may be perfected in love and change our community and world by God’s love. The pledge cards you turn in today will help us plan prudently around how we can strengthen this fundamental mission of our church, keeping these words from Hebrews in mind.

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:23-25

Grace & peace, Pastor Danny
