Want to Volunteer?

Do you want to be involved in the Youth Ministry at Westbury UMC? There are a ton of ways to invest in this incredible community.

  • Event Driver | Help coordinate pick ups and drop offs. Most of the time you will be driving a 15-passenger van to or from a destination. Must have a valid driver’s license. Time commitment: as needed and available
  • Event Chaperone | Help with the nuts and bolts of our big event operations. From lock-ins to special events and trips, event chaperones are called on to help us out! Time commitment: as needed and available

  • Sunday Snack/Meal | Volunteer to bring a meal to Youth Group (Sunday evenings from 5-7pm). Parents and volunteers can sign-up for an evening time slot. You can bring anything from fast food to home made goodies!  Time commitment: as needed and available

Teachers & Counselors

  • Sunday School Teacher | If you have a passion to see young people wrestle with new ideas and help lead them into clarity, guiding them along the way, we want you! Attend worship at Westbury and agree to our Community Requirements. Time commitment: as needed and available (typically on rotation)
  • Confirmation Teacher | Confirmation is an important time in the lives of our young people. It gives them an opportunity to respond to God's grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Time commitment: 1 year
  • Youth Counselor | Come alongside our youth and walk with them through the teenage years. Attend worship at Westbury, attend Youth Group, attend a minimum of one major youth ministry event through the year (examples: Mid-Winter, UM ARMY, etc.), and agree to our Community Requirements. Time commitment: 1 year

Parents & Volunteers

Youth with their parents

At Westbury UMC, we recognize that the #1 spiritual influence in the lives of young people is YOU! Parents, caregivers and guardians are crucial in teaching the faith by example.

Whether you are looking to attend one of our Touchpoint Seminars or to gather more information, we hope to partner with you in raising Godly youth.

Touchpoint Seminar

Do you ever wonder what makes
your teenager tick? Developmentally, where are they headed? What are the
milestones we should expect
to see in the next few years?

Come join other parents for a time of discussion and exploration into the teenage mind! Our Touchpoint Seminar
is currently offered once a year.

Sometimes what you need is a resource to help orient yourself. Here are a few books we think can help a parent out.

  • Christianity 101 | Sometimes, as parents, we don’t have some of the basic tools to tackle some of the theological issues our children bring up. This short(er) book covers eight basic Christian beliefs.
  • Generation iY | A seminal book on Millenials (those born between 1984–2002).
  • Downtime | A great resource for those parents who want to help guide their teens deeper in their prayer life.
