Our Ash Wednesday, February 22, worship services will be held at noon in the Chapel, led by guest preacher Mark Born, and at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary, led by Rev. Tommy Williams. Nursery care will be provided.
Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the forehead in the shape of a cross as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are typically gathered after the palms from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are burned. It is recognized as the first day of Lent, a season of 40 days leading up to Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection on Easter.
