The 40 days leading up to Easter is called Lent, which is observed in the church as a season to examine our souls, confess, repent and seek the grace of God. Often this time is thought of as a solitary pilgrimage, but we also walk together as a community of faith.
You are invited to follow along as our pastors post daily at WestburyUMC.org/40days (starting Monday, February 27). Your comments and interaction are encouraged! We look forward to the conversation we’ll share.
Prayer and Fasting
During Lent at Westbury UMC, we are calling for a churchwide prayer and fast. Check back soon for ways that we'll be offering to guide the prayer and give you resources for fasting. All together, we hope to knit ourselves more closely as God’s people, join in solidarity with others around the world—in particular, the poorest among us—and look to how God will raise us up with Jesus at the other end of the journey.
* Holy Communion will be served.
